Celebrating the Sustainable Solutions for Sacred Sites (S4) Team

Details
Written by: Redeemer
Category: Blog

Through a Lily Foundation grant, Redeemer Lutheran Church was invited to participate in a Sustainable Solutions for Sacred Sites (S4) Initiative over the course of the last school year. Rich Carroll, Julie Andrew, Gwen Feldt, and Pastor Tobias formed the S4 Team and met once a month together, with Julie and Pastor also meeting with a coach provided to us through this initiative. Though the S4 Team might have hoped to accomplish even more, it has wrapped up its work and we want to take a moment to celebrate ways that we helped nudge Christ’s ministry forward, specifically in connection to God’s House (aka the Building) at Redeemer:

Redeemer is pleased to be part of this important educational series that focuses on social justice issues.  The Second Sundays Series is an ecumenical initiative of Redeemer Lutheran, St. Andrew's, and the New Paltz Methodist churches.

Every second Sunday of the month, now through May, 2024, we will offer a new social justice topic for discussion.  We hope you can join us on November 12th, 11 a.m., in-person at Redeemer and online, for Daily Bread: Food Justice in the Hudson Valley - a discussion about food access and insecurity, sustainability, and the labor involved in bringing food to our tables in our local communities.

For more information, please visit our Second Sunday's events page.

After being away for the month of August, it’s good to be back alongside the people of God at Redeemer, New Paltz as we are called together to share Christ’s welcome and love with the world! And I’d like to share some reflections from my time away (which was a combination of vacation and continuing education).

The Month of Returns

Details
Written by: Deacon Bill Mennenga
Category: Blog

August can be considered a month of returns.

Many return from vacation.

Many return to work.

Many return to school.

Have you considered it can also be a month to return to church?

Some may question why return to church? (For some it may be the first time church is a consideration.)

How about this for a reason:

Hebrews 10:24-25

24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another.

This is Christ's Church

We strive to embrace and embody Christ’s commandment to love one another as God first loved us. We believe that black lives matter and we celebrate the rich diversity of God's creation, embracing all ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities, ages, faith journeys; in short, all people everywhere.
